The St. James Futsal Program offers student-athletes world-class coaching and instruction related to playing the game of Futsal. Futsal, the only form of indoor soccer as endorsed by FIFA, is played around the globe and rapidly growing as a fun, enjoyable form of soccer that compliments a child’s athletic, cognitive and emotional development through intensive training and competition.
Student-athletes who participate in the St. James Futsal Program will train and compete in a “Best-with-Best” environment with the area’s most gifted and passionate coaches and players. The Program engages advanced coaches and trainers to deliver individual and small-group training and competition. Student-athletes will develop technical ball skills thereby improving first touch and the ability to retain the ball in tight spaces. In addition, coaches will teach student-athletes how to read and recognize various technical and tactical cues within the game, and strategies to improve communication, player movement, team shape and discipline, possession and transitional play.
Through guided practice, positive reinforcement and competitive training, student-athletes be encouraged to make early decisions before receiving the ball. Coaches will reward student-athletes who are creative, resilient and ‘team-first’ players.
Futsal Program players and teams will participate in competitive, in-house leagues as well as play in regional and national level futsal tournaments throughout the school year. Teams will be formed in the Under 9 through Under 15 age levels for boys and girls.
